MONTRER LE HORS-CHAMP
HORS-CHAMP
Year 11 students from the Lycée Charlotte Delbo, Dammartin-en-Goële (77) with Camille Kirnidis.
Not a city, nor a suburb, neither a countryside, Dammartin-en-Goële is located in the department of Seine-et-Marne in Île-de-France, just 33 kilometres north of Paris. Like many peri-urban areas, this residential community is now growing on agricultural land to house new inhabitants.
Together, we interrogated our way of apprehending this singular space in which some of us feel "off-field". We conducted research, wrote as well as photographed in an effort to capture this territory and reveal it to others.
We’ve explored our environment to get to know it, for far from the so-called "dormitory towns" stereotypes, Dammartin-en-Goële possesses a history and a historical heritage that is often overlooked, even by those who live in it. Using archival footage of the city, as well as producing images of Dammartin and Othis, the adjacent town, we offer a visual and collective narrative, both documentary and sensible.
